Porch Conversion’s® Mission
To provide our customers with outstanding products, customer service, efficient and prompt installation
As the weather changes, many will be forced to abandon their beloved outdoor living spaces. Porches and patios around the region will be left vacant until spring rolls around again. If only there were a way to be protected from the elements while still enjoying nature’s beauty by letting the outside in.
For the last 14 years Mary and Paul Maki of Porch Conversion® have been helping their clients make the most of their homes by converting underused porches into beautiful sunrooms. The pair has over 30 years of experience designing and building three and four season sunrooms. They have installed over 3,000 custom sunrooms and have been recognized for their design work by PGT Industries, Custom Window and the National Sunroom Association.
While Wilmington is known for it’s mild winters there are plenty of reasons many porches, patios and outside spaces go unused year after year. When asked about the biggest reason customers come in to talk about adding a sunroom Maki said, “they get tired of cleaning, tired of the pollen.”
Along with the waves of pine pollen that wash over the area each spring, many customers complain about mosquitos in the summer, leaves in the fall and of course, the cold of the winter. Porch Conversion® is committed to helping customers reclaim these unused areas by turning them into year-round living spaces.
Maki also pointed out the addition of a sunroom doesn’t just extend a homes living space, it is also a great investment. A new sunroom can add around $100 per sq. ft. to the value of a home.
A key factor in the success of Porch Conversion® is their ability to find a solution for every home. Many customers look to the Maki’s for a plan to retrofit an existing porch, patio or screened room, turning it into a climate controlled space that can be enjoyed through all seasons.
While this sounds like quite a project, Maki said these renovations can be completed in about a week once the custom designed and manufactured windows and doors are delivered. With licensed residential and commercial contractors on staff, Porch Conversion® is also able to add brand new sunroom additions onto homes.
The process of designing, building, and furnishing a sunroom might seem daunting. Porch Conversion® has gone to great lengths to make the process as easy as possible for their customers. It all starts with a visit to the home by one of the design team. The primary job of the design team is to “plan the sunroom around the house” according to Maki. This special attention to the existing home and the ability to have windows and doors custom manufactured helps Porch Conversion® build sunrooms that look as if they were there all along rather than added as an afterthought.
During the design process customers make full use of the huge 15,000 sq. ft. showroom at Porch Conversion®. One look at the broad range of products available and it’s easy to believe Maki when she says, “we offer more designs, options and sizes than anyone else.”
Going beyond window, door and roof options, the showroom also displays a full line of furnishings perfect for new sunrooms. Maki said that by displaying furniture in the mock-up sunrooms, customers are able to get a better idea of how everything will look when it’s completed, helping them make better design choices.
The quality of the design and furnishing is only half the battle when it comes to adding a sunroom to a home. The materials and workmanship must also be top notch. With this in mind, Porch Conversion® offers a lifetime workmanship warranty unsurpassed in the industry. Going beyond normal coverage of labor and materials, the Porch Conversion® warranty even covers accidental glass breakage.
Don’t let spring pollen, summer bugs, fall leaves or winter cold keep you from enjoying your backyard any longer.
